Panic sets in

I'm afraid the title says it all - I've got 72 hours to go, my flat hasn't even really begun to be packed up, I've still got shopping to do for the trip equipment and now I'm coming down with flu. Joy oh joy! But I suppose I always knew this time would be frantic so I can't complain (too much). Hopefully tomorrow will bring a new day in which I can tick more things off the list. Lovely Alex has agreed to come round and help me move some bookcases (not something I should attempt on my own with my dodgy ankle) and despite having to stop every 10 mins to let the machine cool down, my shredder is getting through the huge mound of paper... eventually... And I'm down to only 5 more loads of washing to go. So, fingers crossed things do get done before the off. And that I get a chance to go out and celebrate New Year's Eve tomorrow night. Have a good one!

First Post

Well, here I am sitting at home a couple of days before Christmas, feeling a little overwhelmed by everything I've still got to do getting ready for the off. Kate and Mike have just left after coming round for dinner, which was another "goodbye - and see you next June after you're back from Nicaragua". It's exciting and yet also a little sad... Anyway, time to think about tomorrow's to-do list (new hiking boots and a sun hat are top priorities). Good night.
